Wave Basket Kit & Online Course

This kit includes everything you need to create a contemporary raffia basket using the Random Overstitch technique. You’ll enjoy playing with spiral and colour to form a soft, rolling wave pattern.

The Wave Basket Kit & Online Course includes:

• Access to the Online Course “Wave Basket” by Craft School Oz 
• 1 x 250g bundle natural un-dyed raffia (enough raffia for at least one 20cm wide basket)
• 1 x 50g bundle of any colour of your choice from The Raffia Connection or Nutscene range – please note the colour name in the Customer Notes area when placing your order. If no colour name is supplied, you will be provided with the default colour which is Nutscene Delphinium Blue.
• 1 x Chenille needle 

In this Online Course, suitable for beginning or advanced weavers, you will be guided through the process of creating a stunning Wave Basket using raffia. You can return to the course as often as you like.

The Wave Basket is a basketry course that teaches how to create a stitched wave pattern in a coiled basket. The course shows how the wave is formed as the basket is built. The pattern is created during the coiling process, not added afterwards, so the wave becomes visible as each round is completed.

The process is broken down into clear steps, covering how to build the coil, place stitches, control tension and maintain the wave pattern as the basket grows. The focus is on accuracy and consistency, so the finished basket has a defined, intentional wave.

This is a deeply satisfying project for makers who enjoy structured techniques and seeing a pattern take shape round by round. By the end of the course, you will have a finished coiled basket with a stitched wave pattern and a clear understanding of how to repeat the technique in future work.
